GIVE FROM YOUR INDIVIDUAL RETIREMENT ACCOUNT (IRA) – This year, it is possible to make a gift from your IRA without incurring income tax.  Through the Pension Protection Act of 2006, federal tax law allows people age 70 ½ and older to make a direct gift to their church or another charity with IRA assets up to $100,000 in 2007 without including the distribution in income.  You are eligible to contribute funds in this manner under the following conditions:

• You must be at least 70 ½ years of age at the time of the gift;
• You must have a traditional or a Roth IRA;
• Your gift may not be more than $100,000 per year;
• You must request a direct transfer of funds to a qualified public charity; and
• You must make the gift on or before December 31, 2007

Soldiers Need Our Phone Cards
In some remote areas of the Middle East, the only phone card that works for soliders is one featuring the UMC cross and flame insignia. Two UM agencies designed cards featuring the cross and flame and the message "Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors.
